GARMSIR DISTRICT, Helmand province, Afghanistan - Lance Cpl. Ryan Shephard unloads food to fellow Marines at Combat Outpost Gorgak, Aug. 4. Shephard, a native of Olathe, Kan., is a driver and gunner for 3rd Trucks Platoon. Originating from Marine Corps Bases Japan, 3rd Trucks Platoon is attached to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment. Trucks Platoon is responsible for logistical deliveries throughout 1/3's area of operations.
