Sgt. David C. Thompson is a martial arts instructor with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 464, deployed out of Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C. Thompson, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., is currently deployed to Camp Bastion, Afghanistan, with the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward). Thompson said his job readies Marines for times where they may face the enemy in a hand-to-hand combat scenario.
