The U.S. Army recruit training camp seen in 1917 in Syracuse, N.Y. The camp provided training to new recruits and National Guard Citizen Soldiers in America’s mobilization for World War I. Known as Camp Syracuse, located on a portion of the New York state fairgrounds, the training center processed more than 40,000 Soldiers for the war effort.
