180513-N-OY799-0210 WATERS SOUTH OF JAPAN (May 13, 2018) Sailors perform an aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) countermeasure washdown in the hangar bay aboard the Navy's forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), during sea trials. AFFF is a mixture of water and highly concentrated detergent used throughout the ship to smother fires. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
