    Cryptologic Technician 3rd Class Eric Bruggeman of Operations department lowers an SLQ-25A torpedo countermeasure, or "Nixie," into the water from the fantail aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). The "Nixie" torpedo countermeasure trails behind the ship to deter enemy acoustic and wake homing torpedoes by emitting special frequencies.
