Australian Defence Force Pvt. Raphael Carvignese of 11th Brigade Operational Support Company South Queensland, Brisbane, Queensland, replaces the tin roof of the bush kitchen at Cockscomb Veterans Bush Retreat. Rehabilitation of the site has become a biennial combined effort during down time while taking part in Talisman Sabre 2011. Cockscomb derives its name from the mountain now known as Mount Wheeler. The retreat, located at the base of this mountain, was originally named Cockscomb by Capt. Cook, of the HMB Endeavour, in 1770 while at sea. Talisman Sabre 2011 is an exercise designed to train U.S. and Australian forces to plan and conduct combined task force operations to improve combat readiness and interoperability on a variety of missions from conventional conflict to peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance efforts.
