U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Hollie Mulvihill of Platoon 4023, Papa Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, supervises recruits during a Marine Corps Martial Arts Program training session April 23, 2018, on Parris Island, S.C. Drill instructors, like Mulvihill, 25, from Woodbridge, Va., assist the recruits during their MCMAP practice to ensure the techniques are executed properly and safely. Papa Company is scheduled to graduate June 29, 2018. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 19,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 12 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
