MEDITERRANEAN SEA (April 30, 2018) Marine Corps Cpl. Samuel Nickens, a rifleman assigned to Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit receives his graduation certification from Master Chief Ben Hodges, command master chief of the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS New York (LPD 21) April 30, 2018. Corporal’s Course teaches Marines what it means to be a non-commissioned officer and how to apply leadership skills in their roles as leaders to better the unit’s cohesion and readiness while deployed to U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations. U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
