Thomas Eckhardt, of Sacremento, Calif., an amphibious assault vehicle crewman, with 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is conducting pre-operation checks on an amphibious assault vehicle before returning to Okinawa, Japan, from Samuel Hill, Queensland, Australia, July 24. Talisman Sabre promotes the alliance with Australia, which is one the United States' most important defense relationships and a central pillar for national security strategy, based on shared values and a common commitment to peace and security.
