Awaiting forward movement, 7 BDE holds the line during simulated enemy gunfire at the Urban Operations Training Facility, Shoalwater Bay Training Area, July 23, 2011, during Talisman Sabre 2011. Urban operations increase combat effectiveness by providing realistic scenarios to include civilians and disorganized enemy factions. U.S. and Australian soldiers wear head and body vests that are tracked by the Australian Combat Training Center through an automated system. This system provides commanders real-time analysis of tactics and techniques and offers them an additional training tool to increase safety and effectiveness. Talisman Sabre 2011, a joint combined international training exercise, builds the U.S. and Australian Defence Forces interoperabilty during humanitarian and combat operations.
