GREAT LAKES, Ill. (April 20, 2018) The Honorable Brad Schneider (right), U. S. Congressman of the 10th Illinois Congressional District, watches line handling training in a recruit barracks at Recruit Training Command (RTC), April 20. Line handling training is part of new more intensive hands-on training of Navy skills recruits are required to learn during their time at the Navy’s only boot camp. RTC is approximately eight weeks and all enlistees into the U. S. Navy begin their careers at the command. Training also includes physical fitness, firearms, firefighting and shipboard damage control along with lessons in Navy heritage and core values, teamwork and discipline. (U.S. Navy photo by Scott A.
