“I love being on submarines and I want to do it as long as I can. I joined the submarine force because we had a family friend who was a submariner. After listening to his stories and hearing about the fun he had I decided that I was going to do that. My tour on USS Jacksonville has been amazing. I have been on the boat four years and I absolutely love it. Being a Quartermaster, knowing where we are and what we are doing, and also being a diver, being able to do what others can’t do, is so cool!” - Electrician Technician (Navigation) 3rd Class Matthew McKenzie, attached to the Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine USS Jacksonville (SSN 699).
