180417-N-XF155-055 YOKOSUKA, Japan (April 17, 2018) – Yokosuka Child and Youth Programs School Age Care students participate in a tour and make pizza for a Month of the Military Child event hosted at the Jewel of the East General Mess. Month of the Military Child is observed in April and calls attention to the vital role that military children have in the armed forces community. Month of the Military Child is sponsored by the Department of Defense Military Community and Family Policy to honor children of military families for the unique challenges they overcome. Fleet Activities Yokosuka provides, maintains, and operates base facilities and services in support of 7th Fleet's forward-deployed naval forces, 71 tenant commands, and 27,000 military and civilian personnel.
