U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Christopher Wade, a drill instructor with Support Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment, puts educators from New Jersey through incentive training, commonly referred to as “IT,” during an educators’ workshop March 28, 2018, on Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. Incentive training is used to correct deficiencies with recruits during training. During IT, the educators performed exercises such as crunches, pushups, jumping jacks and mountain climbers while being told to move faster and scream louder. “This gives the teachers a chance to see how we train recruits,” Salinas said. “They can take this and tell their students what to expect so they can make an informed decision about what service to join.” (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Gunnery Sgt.
