Soldiers from the Illinois Army National Guard converged on Marseilles Training Center in Marseilles, Illinois, form April 5 to April 8, 2018 to compete for the title of Illinois’ Best Warrior. The four-day competition begins with an Army Physical Fitness Test. Then, Soldiers are tested physically and mentally for the next three days through weapons qualification, land navigation, essays and boards, a confidence course and finally, a 10-mile, timed ruck march. The winners are named Best Warrior and claim the title of Soldier and Noncommissioned Officer of the Year and move on to compete at the regional level with hopes to make it to the national and all-Army competitions.
