Scott Sideleau, a software technician from Newport, R.I., with U.S. Naval Undersea Warfare Center, recovers an IVER2 autonomous undersea vehicle at Freshwater Bay in Shoalwater Training Area during Talisman Sabre 2011 July 11, 2011. The IVER2 autonomous undersea vehicle is a single-man, portable device that provides undersea reconnaissance for amphibious military operations. Talisman Sabre 2011 is a biennial combined training exercise designed to train Australian and U.S. forces in planning and conducting Combined Task Force operations to improve Australian Defence Force/U.S. combat readiness and interoperability. It reflects the closeness of the alliance and the strength and flexibility of the ongoing military-military relationship.
