Captain Michael C. Choate, company commander, Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, inspects a recruit’s weapon during a senior drill instructor inspection at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, March 29. Recruits are given a significant amount of time to clean their rifles every day to keep them clean at all times. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Delta Company is scheduled to graduate June 1.
