A drill instructor with Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, quizzes a recruit during a senior drill instructor inspection at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, March 29. Drill instructors test recruits to see how much knowledge they’ve retained thus far in recruit training. Recruits take part in a series of classes to learn about such things as the history of the Marine Corps and uniform standards. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Delta Company is scheduled to graduate June 1.
