San Juan, Puerto Rico, March 14, 2018 – A short walkway leads to the top of Fortín de San Gerónimo where the Council of Nautical Archaeology of the Puerto Rico Institute of Culture and members of the U.S. National Park Service inspect the historic fort (built in 1609) that was impacted by Hurricane María on September 20, 2017. FEMA partners with federal agencies, the state, local communities, counties, municipalities, volunteer organizations active in disaster (VOAD) and tribal entities to provide assistance to disaster survivors and local communities.
