San Juan, Puerto Rico, March 14, 2018 – Iron canon that fired round shots (or cannonballs) from Fortín de San Gerónimo in the 17th century where the Council of Nautical Archaeology of the Puerto Rico Institute of Culture and members of the U.S. National Park Service have inspected the historic fort that was impacted by Hurricane María on September 20, 2017. FEMA partners with federal agencies, the state, local communities, counties, municipalities, volunteer organizations active in disaster (VOAD) and tribal entities to provide assistance to disaster survivors and local communities.
