San Juan, Puerto Rico, March 14, 2018 – James A. Mason, Ph.D., P.E., a structural and geotechnical engineer for the U.S. National Park Service, inspects the condition and moisture of brickwork (with a digital moisture meter) at Fortín de San Gerónimo in San Juan. The historic fort was impacted by Hurricane María on September 20, 2017. FEMA partners with federal agencies, the state, local communities, counties, municipalities, volunteer organizations active in disaster (VOAD) and tribal entities to provide assistance to disaster survivors and local communities.
