180331-N-QR145-1865 MEDITERRANEAN SEA (March 31, 2018) The Blue Ridge-class command and control ship USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) passes a buoy marking coordinates zero degrees North, zero degrees East during a crossing the line ceremony aboard the ship March 31, 2018. The crossing the line ceremony is a naval tradition that recognizes when members of the crew cross the equator for the first time. Mount Whitney, forward-deployed to Gaeta, Italy, operates with a combined crew of U.S. Navy Sailors and Military Sealift Command civil service mariners.
