Lance Cpl. Tristan Steckl with 2nd Platoon, A Co., 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, mixes mortar to hold concrete blocks together during vertical construction training March 26, 2018, Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. Mortar is a mixture of concrete, water and sand and must be mixed properly in order for the concrete blocks to stick together and be even. Vertical construction training prepares Marines for similar projects they will be entrusted with during humanitarian assistance operations. Steckl is a native of Waukesha, Wisconsin.
