CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – Soldiers from the 1086th Transportation Company, out of Bunkie, La., carry the flag of Louisiana along with 35-plus pounds into the morning fog during the Bataan Death March on March 25, 2018. The flag of Louisiana (in French the Drapeau de la Louisiane) consists of a heraldic charge called the “pelican in her piety,” representing a mother pelican wounding herself to feed her young. The soldiers carried the same flag during the march that had been proudly flying over the 1086th’s Tactical Operation Center since Veterans Day Nov. 11, 2017. (U.S. Army Photo by Staff Sgt.
