MEDITERRANEAN SEA (March 12, 2018) U.S. Marines assigned to Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit dismount the muzzle of a Howitzer M777A2 aboard the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS New York (LPD 21) March 12, 2018. Marines maintain weapons and vehicles by constantly inspecting regular functions, repairing necessary parts and cleaning in order to maintain a high level of readiness while deployed to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations. U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
