RENO, NV - Maj. Sarah Smith, the Aviation Assistant for Officer Procurement for 4th Marine Corps District, answers Marine aviation questions from young girls at a career panel during the Women in Aviation, International’s (WAI) 29th Annual Symposium in Reno, Nevada, March 24. Marines attended WAI to generate awareness for career opportunities in the Marine Corps while engaging with highly-qualified individuals and key influencers. The WAI’s 29th symposium falls on the 100 year anniversary of female service in the United States Marine Corps, a milestone celebrated by female aviators and Marines alike. “I grew up thinking I was going to go into finance, but I decided to become a Marine aviatior,” said Smith. “I wanted to do something that would move me every day.” (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
