RENO, NV - Col. Karen Brannen tells her Marine aviation story at the Connect, Engage and Inspire general session during the Women in Aviation, International’s (WAI) 29th Annual Symposium in Reno, Nevada, March 24. Marines attended WAI to generate awareness for career opportunities in the Marine Corps while engaging with highly-qualified individuals and key influencers. The WAI’s 29th symposium falls on the 100 year anniversary of female service in the United States Marine Corps, a milestone celebrated by female aviators and Marines alike. Brannen is the first female Marine to ever earn “wings of gold” and become a fighter pilot in the Marine Corps. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Naomi Marcom)
