A military woman who was most influential to me in my career, and continues to be, is retired COL Jane Ellen Bagwell. Not only did she epitomize what it means to be a Soldier, officer, attorney, and woman, she was also someone who looked out for her team and Soldiers. Be it training, schooling, physical fitness, she led by example always. She was just an amazing individual, and the epitome of professionalism, kindness, and generosity. I just don’t have enough words to describe what she has meant to me and my career.
The advice that I would give young women going into the military today would be to study those who have come before you who have forged these amazing paths. Look after your sisters as you make your way through the military by reaching side-to-side, above, and below. Work hard and help everyone you can, female or male. – MAJ Adelia Watson
