U.S. Marine Corps Chief Warrant Officer 4 Hershel Williams (retired) unties a ceremonial lei with Gold Star Family members during a dedication ceremony at the Hawaii Memorial Park, Kaneohe, Hawaii, Mar. 17, 2018. Multiple organizations including federal, state and local members helped support the construction of a stone memorial honoring the Gold Star Families who have lost loved ones, while serving in the U.S. military. The Gold Star Families Memorial Monument Foundation was created by WWII Medal of Honor recipient Hershel “Woody” Williams in 2010 to remember families who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
