NAVAL AIR STATION JACKSONVILLE – (March 14, 2018) Aviation Structural Mechanic 2nd Class Joe Taylor of Scottsville, Ky., an instructor for the Aviation Structural Mechanic Initial and Career Courses, speaks with educators from south Texas at the Paul F. Nelson Helicopter Training Facility during Navy Recruiting District San Antonio’s annual Educators Orientation Visit (EOV). The EOV is a Navy Recruiting Command program with a main focus of showing educators the various facets of the Navy and the many career paths available to students. Aviation structural mechanics maintain aircraft’s main and auxiliary hydraulic power systems, actuating subsystems and landing gear. Other responsibilities include performing maintenance on the aircraft fuselage (mainframe) wings airfoils and associated fixed and movable surfaces and flight controls.
