Lt. Col. Jerry Slijngard, the director of the National Coordination Center for Disaster Response for Suriname, speaks with Class 11-01 following their graduation from security forces training here, June 29. Class 11-01, a group of soldiers from the Suriname army, trained on an array of security force techniques, tactics, and procedures during the New Horizons 2011 training exercise. New Horizons is a cooperative humanitarian mission between the Suriname government and the United States Southern Command with the goal of helping to improve the quality of life for the people of Suriname.
