New York Naval Militia Sgt. Christopher Vega received this New York State Medal of Valor, the state's highest military award, during a ceremony on Wednesday, March 14 at Camp Smith Training Site in Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. Vega saved the life of a man who almost lost his leg in a traffic accident on Jan. 4, 2018 ignoring the risk to his own life of downed power lines.
