Brig. Gen. Scott "Spade" Williams, Commander of the 169th Fighter Wing, South Carolina Air National Guard (SCANG) and Lt. Col. Michael "Slots" Lightner (center) briefs U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., on the Air Sovereignty Alert (ASA) mission at McEntire Joint National Guard Base. Wilson is visiting for updates on the SCANG’s recent accomplishments, including last year’s historic 120-day AEF deployment, the assumption of the ASA mission and the further evolution of its groundbreaking Active Association. While on base, the congressman visited with the 169th Fighter Wing’s senior leaders and toured recently renovated facilities, including the new alert site.
