A UH-60L Blackhawk helicopter takes flight as another prepares to lift off following a visit from Maj. Gen. Mark O'Neil, the commander of U.S. Army Alaska, while the U.S. Army 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment conduct force protection mission at Clear Air Force Station March 13 as part of the U.S. Army Alaska-led Joint Force Land Component Command in support of Alaskan Command's exercise Arctic Edge 18 conducted under the authority of U.S. Northern Command. Arctic Edge 2018 is a biennial, large-scale, joint-training exercise that prepares and tests the U.S. military's ability to operate tactically in the extreme cold-weather conditions found in Arctic environments.
