The Guard has Over 800 Army National Guard soldiers and Minot Air Force Base airmen, Corps of Engineers as well as contracted construction workers in the area assisted local officials with monitoring dikes, controlling traffic and maintaining security, June 25. Together they work to elevate existing dikes along the Mouse River to 19 feet, in an attempt to prevent flooding from extending further into the city of Minot. Over 2,500 homes experienced water damage; with an estimated 4,000 homes expected to suffer significant water damage by day's end.
