The North Dakota National Guard responds to an urgent request by the city of Minot, N.D., using a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter to quickly reinforce an area of concern with one-ton sandbags at a flood levee at 13th Street and Railway Avenue on June 24. The North Dakota National Guard helicopter is loading the large sandbags from a flatbed truck parked in flood water near the levee. It placed about 28 of the sandbags on the area of concern in the flood water of the Souris River. Several residential areas of Minot were inundated with flood water on June 24, leaving thousands of people homeless.
