Craig Thomas, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, regional technical specialist for floodplain management (at right), and Karl Kerr, Baltimore District geographer, conduct stormwater infrastructure surveys in support of the U.S. Navy at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, Feb. 22, 2018. There are approximately 1,200 structures that need to be surveyed as part of this project. The stormwater infrastructure at the academy is aging, and the academy has experienced major interior flooding from the stormwater system becoming overwhelmed. The Army Corps will provide a map to the U.S. Navy displaying where and how deep flooding is expected to be based on these surveys. This project will also help the U.S. Navy decide on whether or not to replace, enlarge or install new stormwater infrastructure at the academy. (U.S. Army photo by Sarah Lazo)
