Lt. Col. Matthew Ahern, C-5 pilot, works in a C-5M Super Galaxy during a mission on June 5, 2011. The plane was flying the Air Force's first direct delivery airlift mission through the Arctic Circle from Dover Air Force Base, Del., to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. Colonel Ahern is with the 9th Airlift Squadron at Dover AFB.
