Lt. Col. Scott Erickson, C-5 pilot, flies a C-5M Super Galaxy for a mission on June 5, 2011, from Dover Air Force Base, Del. The plane was departing for the Air Force's first direct delivery airlift mission through the Arctic Circle from Dover AFB to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. Erickson is from the Air Force Reserve's 709th Airlift Squadron at Dover AFB and his hometown is Lombard, Ill.
