Staff Sgt. Justin Jennings of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Army NATO Brigade, starts his final lap of swimming during a recent German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge competition. Three Soldiers from HHC USANATO Bde. participated in the GAFPB training event hosted by Landstuhl Regional Medical Center; Jennings, Sgt. Jared Lambert, and Staff Sgt. Demi Gatrell. The GAFPB is a coveted German proficiency badge that can be worn on U.S. Army Service Uniforms, and is awarded in gold, silver or bronze, depending on the competitor’s performance in all events. The badge is earned by competing in a series of challenging events including a 12 mile road march, a grueling swim in combat uniforms, and a demanding marksmanship event with only 6 shots, where each shot can mean the difference between gold, and nothing at all.
