U.S. Army Reserve Spc. Derek Peterson, a food inspector with the 993rd Medical Detachment, Veterinary Services unit, based in Denver, injects a vitamin B shot into a cow, June 20, at a farm outside of Paramaribo. The shot is intended to help livestock increase their energy levels and promote hunger where vitamin deficiencies are present. Members of the unit are working with the Suriname Ministry of Agriculture, and local farmers, to implement a tuberculosis testing program, while applying topical de-wormers to help improve herd health.
