Students Kelson Dunn, Connor Leahy and Jake Wylieof DeSales High School in Walla Walla, WA. pose with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District Commander. The students worked together on a building a paper tower for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, E Week Competition “Towering Above the Imagination,” and won the competition out of the 100 participating school mates. Students throughout, Walla Walla, College Place and Pendleton Middle and High School participated in the Corps competition from February 20th to the 26th engineers from Corps districts were in the classrooms introducing engineering concepts to students and teachers, using hands-on projects to connect them to real-world careers in STEM. The Corps of Engineers’ mission is dedicated to serving the Nation. EWeek is one of many opportunities that the Corps takes to give back to the community and its’ future.
