Spc. Kathleen Wolf, a native of Tiffin, Ohio, and a UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter door gunner, notes the amount of fuel during a training flight in the mountains just west of Fort Carson, Colo., May 12. For Wolf, other door gunners and the crew chiefs with 2nd Aviation Assault Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, the High Altitude Mountain Environmental Training at Fort Carson is a chance to train as a crucial member of the flight crew for their deployment to eastern Afghanistan. Keeping track of the aircraft’s fuel throughout the flight enables Wolf to help keep track of how long the helicopter can fly before needing to be refueled.
