Students Mya Adams, Naomi Cueto, Owen Oetman, Jordan Butcher, and Ben Busby of Rogers Adventist School in College Place, WA pass engineering muster after placing the 6th tennis ball in the weighing sack. The middle school students worked together on a building paper tower for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, E Week Competition “Towering Above the Imagination,” and won the competition out of the 60 participating school mates. Students throughout, Walla Walla, College Place and Pendleton Middle and High Schools participated in the Corps competition from February 20th to the 26th engineers from Corps districts were in the classrooms introducing engineering concepts to students and teachers, using hands-on projects to connect them to real-world careers in STEM. The Corps of Engineers’ mission is dedicated to serving the Nation. EWeek is one of many opportunities that the Corps takes to give back to the community and its’ future.
