Ashley Hale, software lead for Team Hanscom, demonstrates to judges how software produced by her team can help remote warfighters get quickly resupplied during the 2017 Air Force Research Laboratory Commander’s Challenge, Feb. 27, 2018, at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. Hanscom’s software system was designed to be coupled with a glider that would be deployed from other aircraft. For the purpose of the demonstration, they planned on using a weather balloon; however, in two separate attempts, the balloon popped before it could be launched. (U.S. Air Force photo by R.J.
