Joel Roos, commanding officer, Naval Medical Center San Diego (right), tours the USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) to interact with Sailors and family members prior to the ship’s departure in support of Pacific Partnership 2018 — the largest annual multilateral humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific Region. Roos was escorted by Capt. Peter Roberts, commanding officer, Medical Treatment Facility, USNS Mercy (left). More than 500 Sailors aboard the USNS Mercy were sourced from Naval Medical Center San Diego.
