Paul Pearigen, commander Navy Medicine West and chief of the Navy Medical Corps, addresses the MSC civil service mariners and active duty Sailors aboard the USNS Mercy (T-AH 19), over the ship’s intercom system, the 1 MC, minutes before the the Mercy’s departure in support of Pacific Partnership 2018 — the largest annual multilateral humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific Region. Prior to making his 1 MC announcement, Pearigen spent the morning interacting with Sailors and family members aboard the ship.
