Sgt. Joel Erickson, of the North Dakota Army National Guard, is on top of Sgt. Ulysses Mittlestad, of the Idaho Army National Guard, as they battle for control during their combatives contest portion of the region 6 best warrior competition, June 8, at Camp Gilbert C. Grafton, near Devils Lake, N.D. Erickson is the winner of the non-commissioned officer category of the Army National Guard regional contest, which is a test of various soldiering skills and knowledge. The region 6 best warrior competition included soldiers from Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota. Chief Warrant Officer 2 Anthony Peck, of Company A, 1-112th AVN, is the official for the bout, wearing the black t-shirt.
