Snaking in a long formation back to the hangars at Pope Army Airfield, N.C., paratroopers from the 2nd Advise and Assist Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, line up to board an aircraft that will eventually land them in Iraq to begin a deployment in support of Operation New Dawn, May 18, 2011. As one of the few units to have taken part in every major campaign of the U.S. military's operations in Iraq, the 2nd AAB, 82nd Abn. Div., has been tasked with ensuring that the Iraqi security forces are able to maintain a safe and secure environment for the Iraqi people as the unit leads the transition of U.S. forces out of Iraq.
