Daniel Coghill, Industrial Electronic Controls technician with the Production Equipment Maintenance division, explains how the drying room cures the ultra-tough paint used on the barrels of the M777 Howitzer, seen behind him. Coghill said while PEM does not paint the barrels or operate the drying room, it is responsible for maintaining all of the equipment and the room in a constant state of readiness to avoid production down time. There are more than 1,000 pieces of equipment at Production Plant Barstow, Marine Depot Maintenance Command, for which the PEM has to repair and provide preventative maintenance.
